SUMMER 2008 Spanish classes (Summer 2008 Schedule)

Level descriptions

Each of Dígame's class levels has its own set of goals & objectives which are the focus of the twelve class meetings. Students meet those goals through regular homework assignments, and by receiving the conversation practice and teacher attention that only small group learning can offer.

Placement

Dígame's intimate class size (limit 6), makes it essential that all students in a given group are as compatible in terms of ability as possible. All students other than total beginners need to schedule a placement evaluation to determine their level. Evaluation scheduling is very flexible and the process is quick (30 minutes) and free.

Here is a brief synopsis of our level system:

Level 1   beginning students

You’ve never had Spanish before, now you're ready!

Level 2   post-basic beginners

You’ve had a little Spanish, or studied it a long time ago; you are just starting Spanish but are at an intermediate to advanced level in another language.

Level 3   advanced beginners

You’re using present-tense verbs well and can engage in meaningful small talk about yourself, your home and your family. You’re ready to explore the past tenses.

Level 4   intermediate

Reflexives, indefinites, object pronouns—oh my! Let’s keep you reviewing as you move into the next phase of your Spanish usage: putting it all together.

Level 5   advanced intermediate

You’re using the imperfect and the preterit tenses, but are not always 100% sure how to decide between the two.

Level 6   advanced intermediate

You're ready to explore the subjunctive mood and settle the por vs para score once and for all—¡más o menos!

Level 7   high intermediate

You’re using the present subjunctive but need review and reinforcement before looking at past forms.

Level 8   advanced

You have a good understanding of most verb tenses but need practice and exposure to nitty-gritty grammar.

Level 9   high advanced

You continue with the finer points of Spanish grammar, and are conversant on complex topics but need challenging.

Level 10   high advanced

Puedes leer, escribir, debatir, hasta contar chistes. ¿Y ahora, qué? Sigue con el español, aumenta tu vocabulario y continúa hacia el perfeccionamiento—¡siempre es posible mejorar!
